Today, I finally got an interview at a restaurant after looking for a job for three months. I dressed nice, and the interview was going well until this blonde girl in booty shorts and fishnets walked in. The manager hired her on the spot. FML
Ugh! People like that disgust me, both the girl and the manager!
Well, she's gotta do what she's gotta do to get a "leg up" on the competition.

One thing I learned today is that it's always best to dress for the job, not one dress level higher than it. If you're trying out for a job in retail, buy clothing from the same store and wear what you buy to the interview. If you're trying out to be a waitress, wear something...well...like the blonde did since that's what people might expect out of a waitress from that restaurant. Make observations about what people who work there are wearing and wear something similar.

not that you NEED a degree but training in hospitality and business management prob wouldnt hurt.
and you know for a fact she was hired on the spot without ever talking to the manager? I really doubt she was hired because she was dressed that way. she could have been interviewed earlier and asked to come back to see if she got the job. it's just much more likely she is more qualified for the job than you. and either way I don't see how your life is fucked because some skank ass girl got a job over you. everyone has to work.

YDI for not taking the low road. BTW, Hooters is rather tame. I still don't get these people who bash Hooters as pornographic. It's just attractive women in tank tops and hot pants with pantyhose underneath. Totally harmless eyecandy, that's all. On a side note, their chicken wings are overrated and greasy.

If you mean that you still wanted to work for the lecher after that, you're crazy. #14, 16, 17: The trouble is precisely because it's technically a "family" restaurant. Of course, since their food is blatantly overrated and people essentially just go there just for the entertainment value, that merely adds more fodder for derision. Besides that, anyone who has even a lick of sense is going to eat or play elsewhere anyway.

I am that Girl. It was at an EBar in the SF bay area. For the record, I was wearing a turtle neck sweater, black shorts that hit mid-thigh and knitted tights with flat boots. I looked put together not trashy. Also, I have 10 years experience in the Service Industry both waiting tables and bartending. I too have been looking for a job for the past three months and was hired at two places in the past week. I turned down the job at Ebar, so hopefully they call you.... If they don't at least you can't blame it on my outfit. Best of luck and I hope life gets better for ya.

I didn't realize that wearing shorts makes you a whore... my mistake. Besides, I'm pretty sure that I was just the face of her misfortune. I am not taking it personal. As I know not having a job is a great source of stress. I believe in you get what give. If you put out negative bitter energy chances are that is what you will get in return. Try shifting your outlook on life and see if more goes your way. Cheers
