There are horses in Canada? Awesome.

#22 - 11/19/2009 at 8:19pm - seanreddog

@ seanreddog No in Canada they ride cowboys :P

#65 - 11/20/2009 at 7:14am - popatia

We prefer to ride Moose, actually.

#66 - 11/20/2009 at 7:18am - victim21

Oh yes, Moose love

#67 - 11/20/2009 at 7:20am - popatia

haha, save a horse... ; D

#70 - 11/20/2009 at 8:01am - damnrosi

O.O that's awful!

#2 - 11/19/2009 at 7:38pm - k43L1

That sucks! Screw all you people who think Swine Flu is small and no one actually gets it :)

#3 - 11/19/2009 at 7:39pm - scateice

My boyfriend got it. He was fine as long as he stayed on the meds and was good about taking the fever reducers. Within 5 days he was back to perfect health, despite having an "underlying condition" (he's diabetic)

#25 - 11/19/2009 at 8:25pm - catastrophicsock

Like half the people I know had it or at least said they did...

#30 - 11/19/2009 at 8:29pm - seanreddog

I Had Swine flu the last 2 weeks and I think it's blown up by the media, I did feel sick but it wasen't a feeling of dying or anything. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

#69 - 11/20/2009 at 7:56am - Bhoek

1)of course media is blowing it out of proportion, they don't make money based on good news. 2) the reason that they are somewhat justified is that H1N1 is killing teenagers and adults, typically the regular flu (which kills quite a few people each year), only targets the old/extremely young, and infirm.

#71 - 11/20/2009 at 8:05am - damnrosi

Swine flu knocked me out for two weeks. I didn't use any meds other than Halls and Nyquil. Also shut up woman get on my horse.

#95 - 11/20/2009 at 1:04pm - Draq

It tastes like raisins

#113 - 11/20/2009 at 9:18pm - lenasaur

aww. Hopefully you won't be there for too long

#4 - 11/19/2009 at 7:39pm - Pikachu206

Ouch! Feel better.

#5 - 11/19/2009 at 7:40pm - soiree

nasty , hope your alright

#6 - 11/19/2009 at 7:45pm - ben_the_yid

So you're writing this from the hospital?

#7 - 11/19/2009 at 7:47pm - bbq34567

Why not? It gets boring in there, she probably brought her laptop.

#58 - 11/20/2009 at 3:08am - Sun_Kissed18

You deserve it for riding horses, fuckwit

#8 - 11/19/2009 at 7:48pm - RustyGuns

I knew there would be at least one comment saying this. Way to judge.

#11 - 11/19/2009 at 7:54pm - RebeccaKate

Hopefully this time your stay will be shorter than your last! Get well soon (:

#9 - 11/19/2009 at 7:49pm - 5upernova

I'm only seeing two options here: A) You have a spooky horse.....so you should have known NOT to get on your horse until you were back to full strength. B) You didn't have anyone take your horse out while you were in the hospital, so it was full of pent up energy. Which means you should have turned the horse out before getting on. Anyone familiar with horses would know this. Either way, YDI.

#10 - 11/19/2009 at 7:53pm - arabowner20

Wow you're an idiot, that person didn't say ANYTHING about her horse. If she has a horse, I'm sure she had someone take care of it. And she didn't say she wasn't back to strength.

#12 - 11/19/2009 at 8:02pm - iJack

Yes, but if no one took care of her horse while she was in the hospital for three weeks, he could be what we call "fresh" meaning that they have all this built up energy and the smallest things release it.

#39 - 11/19/2009 at 9:13pm - eMo_gurll200

The OP said she JUST got out of the hospital after having the swine flu for three weeks. Yes, I would say she was not at full strength. You don't get out of a hospital ready to get on a horse. It takes a while to recover from something like that. And judging by the way the OP is replying to almost every comment on here, this is just a fake ploy for attention.

#40 - 11/19/2009 at 9:25pm - arabowner20

k, yes my horse does have energy, but it was a sworm of birds that flew right into us, actually hitting us while flapping there wings making loud noises. And just because I had Swine Flu doesnt mean i cant be at full strength, i made a full recoverey just to let you know, except for the horse running over me part ;)

#13 - 11/19/2009 at 8:03pm - supernova32

Wait, are you pretending to be the OP or something?

#43 - 11/19/2009 at 9:46pm - Erniesduck123

YDI for having a horse that would run over you. My horse wouldn't ever trample me. :)

#114 - 11/20/2009 at 9:40pm - WVracer

at least you dont have the swine flu..... hope u feel better

#14 - 11/19/2009 at 8:03pm - zaq857

thank you #12 ! , your right, someone WAS looking after my horse, im not stupid ! :P

#15 - 11/19/2009 at 8:05pm - supernova32

YDI for defending your FML from trolls.

#16 - 11/19/2009 at 8:09pm - BaghdadAssUp

You'd think after 3 weeks in the hospital with Swine flu, you'd avoid farm animals for a little while. This time, when you get out, don't go around sheep or donkeys -- ewe could get rammed in the ass.

#17 - 11/19/2009 at 8:09pm - perdix

How stupid could you be to say that? Animals do not cause swine flu.. I am the only one of my friends who does not have swine flu and I have a horse went to a petting zoo and took in a stray fog all throughout the sick season while still being fine in no waycould an animal or even a horse give you a sickness.

#72 - 11/20/2009 at 8:10am - Icantfindmymommy

ummm, really? Why the hell do you think it's called Swine flu? It's because animals have a different form of the flu and the pig/swine flu mutated to where humans could catch it. Same with the Avian flu. They are both flus from animals.

#88 - 11/20/2009 at 10:33am - idkweird

Rabies is something you can get from an animal. Ringworm is something you can get from an animal. Now granted one is a virus and the other a parasite they are both 'illnesess' that one can get from an animal.

#124 - 11/22/2009 at 1:08am - AmoraLynn

crappy way to celebrate =S i hope u feel better!!!! btw- how r u writing this now?

#18 - 11/19/2009 at 8:11pm - jessxoxo28

haha well they say being outside is better for you. Anddd i couldn't leave my horse for so long !

#19 - 11/19/2009 at 8:11pm - supernova32

she ran over from my back down, apparently 1200 pounds dont break my bones !

#20 - 11/19/2009 at 8:14pm - supernova32

Get well soon. That totally sucks. I

#21 - 11/19/2009 at 8:18pm - Erindub

YDI for having bad grammar and not being able to spell.

#23 - 11/19/2009 at 8:20pm - Relentless14

so are you at the hospitals computer typing this -_-?

#24 - 11/19/2009 at 8:21pm - fringle

Swine flu is a hoax

#26 - 11/19/2009 at 8:26pm - bosshaug

I have internet on my phone, maybe OP does too, so maybe they are updating from the hospital. It's not like there's probably much else to do. Plus she just said in her comments that she didn't break any bones so she could even be home by now. People need to stop being so critical.

#28 - 11/19/2009 at 8:27pm - tash14

maybe the world is trying to tell you that you need to be more involved in hospitals

#29 - 11/19/2009 at 8:27pm - baby_gurl2405

#8. STFU everyone else whose jumping to conclusions, i own 2 horses, and while you're acting like such know it alls, why don't u acknowledge the fact that after even just 1 day off, a horse can get extremely hyper and wound up, so why don't u stop saying this stuff? horses are flight creatures, and when something they consider frightening or a threat approaches them, or seems to attack their instinct is to run.

#31 - 11/19/2009 at 8:37pm - arsmi

Man, that sucks. FYL. Good luck with a speedy recovery...

#32 - 11/19/2009 at 8:38pm - idiotkid

thanks 31 (:

#33 - 11/19/2009 at 8:44pm - supernova32

aww! get well soon(:

#34 - 11/19/2009 at 8:54pm - xoluvinshayxo

perdix, how horrible is YOUR life??? I occasionally go into comments section under my FML application for iPhone and i swear to god, you comment to every single FML i randomly choose to go to. I think you have the worst FML of all ppl here: "I do not leave the FML site EVER, I comment under every little story making a little pun out of it."

#35 - 11/19/2009 at 8:54pm - beemerFan

If you're on here enough to notice how often perdix comments.....then I'd say you're in the same boat. Also, you've pretty much guaranteed that perdix will find and comment on your comment, in a suitably snide and humorous fashion.

#41 - 11/19/2009 at 9:35pm - myfriend_youfail

yea right if ur horse actually ran over u would be dead or unconcious for a week!!!

#36 - 11/19/2009 at 8:59pm - ILoveMyLifeSoMuc

you had swine flu for 3 weeks and stayed in the hospital? man they must have raped you on that hospital visit. I know a fee people who had it and they were fine after a week. all stayed at home.

#37 - 11/19/2009 at 9:09pm - alphaxzero

not everyone will react the same way to swine flu. I got Swine Flu and I was in hospital for 4 days, and have been sick for 8 weeks now. I have bronchial asthma so it hit me hard.

#68 - 11/20/2009 at 7:50am - patticake1601

Well actually, horses will do everything they can NOT to run over you or hurt you. I have been studying horses for years and have one of my own. I'm sorry about swine flu, but I somehow doubt that your injuries from your horse are that bad.

#38 - 11/19/2009 at 9:10pm - eMo_gurll200

well i can tell this FML is a fake cuz once you have the swine flu u are not allowed too go anywhere which includes hospitals where their are other people where THEY can get sick too u liar!!!

#42 - 11/19/2009 at 9:43pm - jeane123

She wouldn't be contagious anymore, so it really doesn't matter if she goes back to the hospital.

#45 - 11/19/2009 at 10:02pm - Bear_Cat

sigh there are quarantines in hospitals also using their even though it's supposed to be there just makes me cover my face with my palm.

#46 - 11/19/2009 at 10:07pm - Anteezy

Ever heard of quarantine rooms in the hospital? I guess not.. Oh well, just fyi, they exist. Quarantine at home is possible after the patient's request or when there's something epimedic, for which, they have to use every single available room for the patients and still isn't enough. ps; I'm sorry for any spelling mistakes, just woke up ;D

#59 - 11/20/2009 at 3:41am - natpewpew

They are sent to quarantined rooms. Of course people can go to a hospital with the swine flu. We have specific rooms catered towards quarantine.

#89 - 11/20/2009 at 10:36am - idkweird

guys, horses get scared very easily. when i went to horse camp as a small child, i learned that horses see everything x10 bigger than it actually is. i have a horse, and i have to be especially careful around him because if he senses something he can't see, he freaks out. also, people who call fake on almost every fml seem to have a hard time with comprehension. :x

#44 - 11/19/2009 at 10:00pm - asafetybuzz

ydi for homosexuality

#47 - 11/20/2009 at 2:02am - Dr_Pwn

My god that sucks, hope you get well soon! I have horses myself, have been riding for several years, shit happens sometimes.

#57 - 11/20/2009 at 2:42am - LalkaPolska

That sucks! I hope you'll get better soon

#60 - 11/20/2009 at 3:43am - natpewpew

OP has a case of Horse Flew.

#61 - 11/20/2009 at 4:30am - gozar

The way swine flu can kill adults is if you have asthma or some other condition, or it gets really bad.

#62 - 11/20/2009 at 6:16am - angryseatroll

Or if you aren't keeping up on your hydration. Many people get dehydrated because you end up with a fever for 7 full days.

#90 - 11/20/2009 at 10:39am - idkweird

The first part of this is fake. You can only be held in Quarantine/Hospital for 7 days. After that Swine is non contagious. I know this for sure, I had it.

#63 - 11/20/2009 at 6:20am - JamesJimmothy

Horses see everything x10 bigger?!! LoL no wonder everything scares them! Those birds must have looked like bears to him!!!

#64 - 11/20/2009 at 6:37am - victory25

oh so #63 your saying that if you got in a bad car crash and your life was on the line, after 7 days the doctors would say you can go now? uhm no it doesn't work that way. I know lots of people with Swine who have been in the hospital for longer then me

#73 - 11/20/2009 at 8:35am - supernova32

How is a car crash anything like swine flu?

#79 - 11/20/2009 at 9:21am - fieldhockyluva24

ouch that sucks dude. get well soon!

#74 - 11/20/2009 at 8:41am - kewl92

yes 38 they do that. but when I fell off a lot of the sand in the arena covered my back and legs because I rolled so much and it's really sandy. And my horse was also more concerned about the birds chasing her that she ran over mostly my legs. And I went to the hospital just to see if I had any broken bones, so I'm out now :)

#75 - 11/20/2009 at 8:41am - supernova32

Okay, this hits very close to home for me. If you are in the hospital for 3 weeks, it doesn't matter if its for H1N1, the bubonic plague or whatever, your muscles are atrophied because they aren't being used. I agree with what everyone is saying about swine generally being no big deal, because most of the time it is. You stay home, you get rest, drink plenty of fluids and you're fine. However, sometimes it causes severe complications. If you are sick enough to be admitted to a hospital for 3 weeks for H1N1, you're pretty freakin sick. A close friend of mine was intubated in the ICU for nearly a month because of H1N1, and the complications it caused (kidney failure, ARDS, sepsis). This was in June/July. She is still out of work and still hobbling with a cane, not because of the flu virus or even any of the complications, but because her muscles were so atrophied from being in a hospital bed for that long (if you don't use them, you lose them). Oh yeah, and she was 30, in good general health, and had no pre-existing medical conditions. So I seriously doubt that OP immediately had enough strength to get right back on a horse. /end rant.

#76 - 11/20/2009 at 8:44am - seriously_ppl

ok, then your friend went to an awful hospital. Most hospitals have physical therapists around to do muscle workouts on patients that keep their muscles from atrophying.

#91 - 11/20/2009 at 10:45am - idkweird

She was in a pretty decent hospital. In case you missed it....she was intubated. You have to essentially be in a medically induced coma or else you will extubate yourself (that whole gag reflex thing). She was then trach'd and still heavily sedated so that her body can heal. She only stayed in the hospital for a few days after waking up, because there was nothing medically wrong. And her therapy while still in the hospital was more geared toward motor skills, grasping objects, putting her glasses on. She was discharged to a rehab facility. If you're in the hospital because of surgery or something like that, they absolutely send you to therapy. But with something like H1N1, if you're sick enough to be hospitalized, you're pretty flippin sick, and the hospital's main concern is getting you better medically. No matter what, you're not gonna be using some of the muscles you use every day just to walk, run, sit down, stand up, and they are going to atrophy. Can't get around it, unfortunately.

#98 - 11/20/2009 at 1:19pm - seriously_ppl

I missed nothing. Physical therapists are sent around to EVERYONE who is bedridden to do muscle work. Conscious or not. They work the muscles to avoid atrophy. It's pretty common practice. They do it for long term coma patients, as well. They also turn patients that are bedridden to prevent decubitus/pressure ulcers. No one should be that atrophied after only a month. There had to have been other complications. I work in a hospital. It was probably Acute Respiratory Failure and not just ARDS if she was on a vent, and resp failure and kid failure are common complications of severe sepsis. Ive read cases of patients bedridden longer than a month that did not have those type of comps.

#101 - 11/20/2009 at 1:27pm - idkweird

This may be true of your hospital but it isn't true of every hospital that a physical therapist get sent to every bedridden patient. My husband was just in the hospital on a vent for 2 weeks with H1N1 and my husband was never seen by a physical therapist. There was no muscle work done. Neither was the man in the room next to him. My husband passed away, he had no previous health issues. The man in the next room was released from the hospital walking with a cane and there was no way he could have ridden a horse for quite awhile after release. Common practice, maybe, happens for every patient, no.

#108 - 11/20/2009 at 4:07pm - jfraser

Im very sorry for your loss. For the hospitals Ive worked in, it's supposed to be standard practice.

#110 - 11/20/2009 at 4:20pm - idkweird

yes but I had to stay in the hospital becasue my sister has really bad asthma. Since I was better they let me go down to an excersice room so I could get back in shape. So other then that, I could have been out of the hospital the first week.

#77 - 11/20/2009 at 8:50am - supernova32

If you were able to leave your room to go to the exercise room, why wouldn't you be able to go home? They wouldn't allow you to be around other people if you were contagious, so you must not have been contagious anymore.

#80 - 11/20/2009 at 9:24am - fieldhockyluva24

Haha, first swine flu and now you're in the hospital from the bird flew. Amused.

#78 - 11/20/2009 at 9:19am - zgpt

80, like I said before, my sister has really bad asthma, so i couldnt go home because it would be really bad for her.....learn to read my comment from before

#81 - 11/20/2009 at 9:38am - supernova32

Yeah, now this part is a lie. No hospital is going to keep you in house just because they dont want you home around your sister. That's a load of BS.

#92 - 11/20/2009 at 10:47am - idkweird

Unless the hospital committed insurance fraud, there is no way your insurance would pay to keep you in a hospital for 2 extra weeks because your sister has asthma.

#94 - 11/20/2009 at 12:36pm - seriously_ppl

No hospital would keep the patient in longer. Insurance wouldn't pay for it unless there were serious complications that are considered ok to extend the length of stay. A sick sister at home isn't one of them.

#97 - 11/20/2009 at 1:07pm - idkweird

I did read it, seeing that I commented under it. The only way it would affect your sister is if you were still contagious. The hospital would not allow you to go down to a room where other people are if you were still contagious, which I already said if you would have read my comment. And if you were able to be around other people, you would be able to be around your sister. I also had it, and had to stay in my dorm room cause my dad has cancer, which means you would die if he got the flu. As soon as my fever broke (which with fever reducers was about 4 days), I was allowed to leave my room and go home where my dad was. They also said that I had to stay 6 feet away from people until my fever broke. You could have gone home and stayed in your room, away from your sister. My roommate has asthma. The only thing they said that I could do is stay in my room. My roommates brought food and drinks and left them outside my door. If you were better after a week, you could have gone home. So I call major BS.

i hope your ok.. my horse gets scared of birds too lol

#87 - 11/20/2009 at 10:29am - gymbrat27

How could about 1 out of 10 say YDI? This is why I hate FML ...

#93 - 11/20/2009 at 11:38am - Garanaw

Because she's obviously lying about something. Read her comments, and maybe you'll understand a little better.

#99 - 11/20/2009 at 1:19pm - idkweird

97? i live in Canada, its called FREE HEALTH CARE

#100 - 11/20/2009 at 1:22pm - supernova32

No, it's governement run health care. They're more likely to kick you out quicker than private. It's not cost effective to keep you in a hospital to avoid getting your sister sick. I am a medical coder, it is my job to know insurance and hospital stays. It's my job to know what will and will not extend a hospital visit. I think it's pretty clear that your sister's health would have been no concern to the insurance. Also, no healthcare is free. Universal health care is paid for by taxes. Don't be ignorant.

#102 - 11/20/2009 at 1:30pm - idkweird

k, well im just saying to clear things up since people think this isnt true, but it is so stfu you haters

#103 - 11/20/2009 at 1:33pm - supernova32

Not being a hater, just pointing out the flaws in your story. From a medical point of view, there is no way they would keep you in the hospital for 3 weeks unless there were some major complications.

#104 - 11/20/2009 at 1:37pm - idkweird

omg, THERE NOT FLAWS FOR THE LAST TIME

#105 - 11/20/2009 at 2:54pm - supernova32

Really? Right over there?

#106 - 11/20/2009 at 3:08pm - arabowner20

They have horses and birds in the kitchen?

#107 - 11/20/2009 at 3:52pm - MattJ1991

The artist of that last horse FML needs to come back and illustrate this one. And tie them together some how.

#112 - 11/20/2009 at 8:48pm - silverx10

Im sorry that happened, but not so sorry that I cant laugh about it. Its still funny. Hope your okay. =)

#115 - 11/20/2009 at 11:13pm - Gut

Yeah dude , juss pointing this out ; you said birds scared your horse and actually flew INTO the horse ? WEll birds don't often go into arenas since they're indoors or when they do , it's up in the rafters , the only way they could fly into your horse is if they went DOWN lower , which I doubt seeing as all they'd want is to get outta there fast , going lower takes more time , does it not ? This is so fake .. Sorry but I know enough about horses to say that it has GOT to be and if it's not YDI ! You don't jump on a horse you know could spook right after getting out the hospital . If you wanna visit your horse , try going and juss brushing him or visiting , don't try riding or you end up like so .

#116 - 11/20/2009 at 11:48pm - jussmyyluckk

Oh my oh my, sadly I have to say you don't know as much about horses as you think you do. I'm not an expert but growing up I had horses and well I rode them outside more often than I rode in an indoor arena. Also almost any being would get spooked if something came flying in front of its face unexpectedly. Aren't you startled when a bird or ball comes flying at your head?

#123 - 11/22/2009 at 1:00am - AmoraLynn

wow its amazing how ppl get all worked up in thease and really everyone isnt the same when they get sick some ppl take longer to get better then others. and wtf how dose falling off make u a bad rider u. ovesly ur not trying new things and trying to improve ur self. growing up my couch always incuraged it u learn from ur mistakes and it makes u a better rider, and for fuck sakes ppl some ppl dont care what kinda health they r in to see there horse i have rode mine with a cracked rib's all it proves is she loves her horse ya probly should have sticked to a areana for a bit and made sure she worked out all the extra energy but thats ur call not anyone elses so maybe u guys should grow up

#117 - 11/20/2009 at 11:52pm - tinka8_88

wow. that's some bad spelling.

#119 - 11/21/2009 at 12:37am - paks7

yeah, I was outside so obviously there's birds outside god some of you aren't that bright .....

#120 - 11/21/2009 at 3:09pm - supernova32

k I never said I was in a arena, so shut up you homo's you weren't there, you dot know what happened , but I was and what I said is what hapened so stfu

#121 - 11/21/2009 at 2:50pm - supernova32

#116, you are a dumb fuck. It is possible to ride a horse outdoors. They didn't evolve to live in arenas. Go outside man, or at least flip on the Discovery Channel, you poor, obliviously stupid asswipe.

#122 - 11/22/2009 at 12:34am - Youd_laugh_2

I know several people who had the swine flue. and they said it wasn't nearly as horrible as the media has made it up to be.

Yeah, I don't know of any hospital that would keep someone because they couldn't go home because someone in their family couldn't risk getting sick. One, H1N1 cannot possibly be contagious for a three week period, so assuming she was staying so her sister wouldn't catch it, she wouldn't need to be in there for three weeks. Two, hospitals have zero concern for a person's home life, that's not their job. Hospital workers get patients better, than they discharge them. Healthy patients don't say in hospitals, period. It's not their concern for a patients family, so even by some stretch there was possible danger to her sister by her going home they WOULDN'T keep her. It's a hospital, not a hotel. There are a ridiculous amount of holes in the OP's story.
