Today, I was called into work to fix up their projection system. I drove 40 kilometers in peak hour to get there. As soon as I parked my car and was about to walk in, I got a phone call saying "Don't worry, we fixed it, you don't have to come in." FML

Hope you get reimbursed for your time!

#4 - 11/06/2009 at 2:38pm - BrotherTheo

you're in cali and you go by km?? we use miles here, buddy.

#5 - 11/06/2009 at 2:38pm - blazerbum

Even worse, he used "kilometres" not "kilometers," and used the term "peak hour." The OP damn well better be a foreigner, because if he is an American who uses this language, he would need a beating.

#7 - 11/06/2009 at 2:44pm - perdix

Saw an American-born American spell color with a "u" once (colour). Don't worry - I beat him senselessly with a Frasier DVD box set.

#10 - 11/06/2009 at 2:58pm - mercyFML

I love you, Mercy, I laught so hard my knickers fell off and so did my rubber. I need to invest in a better pencil so my rubber stays put. Waight, that didn't sound right. . .

#14 - 11/06/2009 at 3:06pm - perdix

Argh! He's using the ENGLISH language correctly. Although 'peak hour' is kinda weird, 'kilometres' is a correct spelling. Maybe he got mixed up between 'rush hour' and 'peak time'.

#21 - 11/06/2009 at 4:11pm - Mikesta178

Congratulations to him for using the ENGLISH language :P But yeah, we say peak hour here in Australia.. maybe it comes from all the American television shows we watch

#24 - 11/06/2009 at 6:23pm - fireandice27

Plex-- er, perdix, and MercyFML, that was fucking brilliant. People like you are practically the only reason I still read this site.

#39 - 11/06/2009 at 8:03pm - commentfan

waight? Its wait. dumb ass

#52 - 11/08/2009 at 7:11am - falconpunch125

Did California switch to the metric system without telling the rest of us?

#6 - 11/06/2009 at 2:42pm - idrow

We can be considered a third world country now that we're so broke.

#8 - 11/06/2009 at 2:49pm - EChan

You fixed their damned projection system by mental telepathy on the way over. Charge them double!

#9 - 11/06/2009 at 2:53pm - perdix

I read somewhere that the US is legally supposed to use the metric system but no one ever bothered enforcing the law.

#11 - 11/06/2009 at 2:59pm - catatonicsleep

They tried to make American's convert to the metric system in the 70's but it didn't last long, we didn't like it so we switched back to our system.

#29 - 11/06/2009 at 6:51pm - Tarynkd

metric system ftw.

#12 - 11/06/2009 at 3:02pm - WokeUpThisMornin

Seconded. Kudos to the OP. It's about time we got rid of the outdated empirical system.

#46 - 11/07/2009 at 2:29am - cowinvasion

Easy Money!$! Time to party....It's the weekend! Fuck them!!!

#13 - 11/06/2009 at 3:02pm - Skull_300

You're from Frisco aren't you?

#15 - 11/06/2009 at 3:08pm - shaister

edit.

#19 - 11/06/2009 at 3:54pm - Ligerie

FAKE FML No one from Cali would use the metric system -_____-

#16 - 11/06/2009 at 3:24pm - grimmelok

unless they grew up somewhere else?

#17 - 11/06/2009 at 3:31pm - beard_me

1. This argument's already been said... multiple times. 2. Logical fallacy.

#18 - 11/06/2009 at 3:53pm - TheTragicReturn

Here is a little advice you can use the next time they call you in early to your jo... nevermind.

#20 - 11/06/2009 at 4:06pm - CallMeHush

Time and mileage on an expense report for basically duing naught. Bob's your uncle!!!

#22 - 11/06/2009 at 4:25pm - kukopia

That's hilarious. Too bad you couldn't still charge them

#23 - 11/06/2009 at 4:52pm - YDI_4_breathing

WTF drives at 25 MPH (it's 40 KPH when converted) in California??

#25 - 11/06/2009 at 6:33pm - SenGaeriel

You're an idiot. He said he drove FOR 40 km, not AT 40 km. Meaning, he went 40 kilometers in distance, NOT 40 kilometers per hour. He could have floored it and went for 40 km, for all we know.

#26 - 11/06/2009 at 6:42pm - Sora8745

He's from India. His name is Chiraag so obviously he must be working somewhere in the Bay Area. He's used to what they say in India.

#27 - 11/06/2009 at 6:44pm - memyselfandi

Because when someone has an indian name it must mean they're FROM India, not just that they have indian heritage and actually grew up somewhere else. No no no, YOUR idea makes so much sense. Like, my name is Irish so I MUST be from Ireland, even though I'm actually from America. Do you see where I'm going with this?

#28 - 11/06/2009 at 6:49pm - Tarynkd

Then explain why he said peak hour and 40 kilometres

#30 - 11/06/2009 at 6:51pm - memyselfandi

I don't know WHY he said that, but just because of his name doesn't mean he's from India! Maybe he's from Canada. Or Australia. Or Scotland. Or, anywhere that ISN'T America. But don't assume he's from India.

#32 - 11/06/2009 at 7:06pm - Tarynkd

That's fair.

#33 - 11/06/2009 at 7:09pm - memyselfandi

look I'm Indian. And I'm born and brought up in the US. I would never say 40 kilometres or peak hours. I have cousins FROM India who speak like that. I have parents who speak like that. Hence my judgment. Does that make any sense?

#31 - 11/06/2009 at 6:54pm - memyselfandi

Maybe he's from any country except the US... it's one of the only countries that still use Imperial measurements.

#34 - 11/06/2009 at 7:18pm - strata8

its something he said and everyone is starting a huge discussion about american and foreign measurements?!?!?!?! geez!

#35 - 11/06/2009 at 7:51pm - hannahMlover_not

Welcome to fmylife.com! :/

#37 - 11/06/2009 at 8:00pm - Tarynkd

calm down. sure we don't know if the OP is from a different country, but we also don't know if he is.

#38 - 11/06/2009 at 8:01pm - deafgirlwalking

I'm from the UK but live in Chicago and I still use kilometres. The OP is probably just from a different country.

#36 - 11/06/2009 at 7:58pm - deafgirlwalking

hmm. But in the UK, in average day life, they still use miles right? So how come your used to kilometers then? Question from a dutchie

#54 - 11/08/2009 at 8:46am - oliesjeik

At my job if you come in even for 2 seconds and walk right out they have to pay you for a full 4 hours. You gotta man up and tell them they owe you SOMETHING!

#40 - 11/06/2009 at 8:16pm - Erindub

What's worse was probably when you found out that the reason for their problem was that they forgot to hit the power button or plug in the cord.

#41 - 11/06/2009 at 9:13pm - blastvortex

thats jus stupid!!! this isnt a fyl, unless u work on comission!

#42 - 11/06/2009 at 11:11pm - kravitzz1990

I work on commission, and I live in Australia... I just didn't change what country I'm from from the default settings....

#43 - 11/06/2009 at 11:31pm - chiraag87

Good job! Don't listen to the morons whining about the metric system just because their too simple minded.

#47 - 11/07/2009 at 11:46am - ugh_a_lug

fe fe.. im from australia too!! i would tell that company to atleast pay for ur petrol money coz the petrol def isnt cheap here in aus!!! i would def complain

#44 - 11/06/2009 at 11:51pm - kravitzz1990

today, my company called in that dumbass projector guy. he's like from africa or something. anyways, we faked the projector problem just so he can drive 24 MILES in RUSH HOUR. go back to Russia commy! FML

#45 - 11/07/2009 at 1:09am - srak

english dude what the hell is a kilometer. i never understand those stupid european measurements.

#48 - 11/07/2009 at 3:07pm - ladiesman14

Indeed. The metric (le Système international d'unités) is the most used system in the world. Only US, Burma and Liberia haven't officially adopt it. So I think it's actually your imperial measurements who are stupid. It's not a logical measurement system mmkay

#53 - 11/08/2009 at 8:41am - oliesjeik

kilometer is not jus measurements in europe, the guys from australia... stfu u closed minded yank!!

#49 - 11/07/2009 at 7:23pm - kravitzz1990

who in California drives "kilometers" in "peak hour"?

#50 - 11/08/2009 at 1:17am - lamenessabounds

You should have insisted on coming in anyways to make sure it is in fact fixed. Or in this case, to make sure it isn't. So that you can then charge them to fix it yourself.
